Brad McLane, who served one term on the New Trier Township High School District 203 Board of Education from 2019 to 2023, was appointed Monday, June 1, to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of board member Kimberly Alcantara.
McLane chose not to seek a second term in 2023. The Record North Shore first reported his return on Tuesday, June 2, confirming the appointment was made at the board's regular meeting at the Northfield Campus (7 Happ Road, Northfield).
Alcantara, first elected to the board in 2021 and reelected last year, stepped down in May. She cited ongoing health challenges affecting her and her family, saying "instead of missing meetings and feeling unprepared, I'd rather the board have a full roster to give business the attention it deserves," as reported by The Record.
The June 1 agenda also included a roll-call vote on a five-year paraeducator contract (NESPA 2026–2031), but vote results and contract terms are not yet public.
Meeting minutes won't be approved until Monday, July 13. Residents seeking the full vote record can file a FOIA request with the district at newtrier.k12.il.us.
McLane's first meeting as a seated board member will be Monday, July 13, when the board is also scheduled to take up policy revisions and committee liaison assignments, per the posted June 1 agenda.
