Kenilworth trick-or-treaters will hit the sidewalks on Friday, Oct. 30, not Halloween night. With Oct. 31 falling on a Saturday, the village is following its standing tradition of moving trick-or-treating to the Friday before.
The hours run from 3:15 to 7 p.m., according to the village.
The tradition ties directly to Joseph Sears School's Halloween Parade. When trick-or-treating falls on a Friday, kids already in costume for the parade can head straight to neighborhood doors after dismissal. The village said the arrangement "was preferred by residents" because children could trick-or-treat immediately after the school day.
The 3:15 p.m. start aligns with dismissal, giving families nearly four hours before the 7 p.m. cutoff.
