A Los Angeles women's clothing brand is heading to Sheridan Road this fall, selecting Wilmette's Plaza del Lago for its first Midwest store.
DÔEN, founded in 2016 by sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland in Santa Barbara, will open inside The Arcade at Plaza del Lago, according to a Monday, July 7 news release from WS Development, the Massachusetts-based firm that owns the shopping center. The brand carries women's apparel and accessories across eight existing locations in California and on the East Coast. Wilmette and Charleston, South Carolina, will be its first new-market expansions.
"Opening our first Midwest store feels especially meaningful," Margaret Kleveland, DÔEN's CEO, said in the release. "Plaza del Lago has such a wonderful sense of neighborhood and community, making it the perfect home for our next location."
The announcement adds another name to a tenant roster that has reshaped the century-old, Spanish-style center since WS Development purchased it in June 2022 in partnership with CrossHarbor Capital Partners. As of a May 2026 update on the Village of Wilmette's website, the plaza had 21 signed leases for new retail and restaurant uses, with 12 storefronts already open and nine more on the way.
Recent arrivals include Thom Browne, Veronica Beard, Hill House Home, LoveShackFancy and restaurant The Henry. Hermès and Oscar de la Renta are also coming. Anchor tenants Jewel-Osco, CVS, Starbucks and Convito Café & Market remain open.
The renovation has included facade restoration, new parking lots, redesigned sidewalks and outdoor gathering spaces across the roughly 100,000-square-foot property at 1515 Sheridan Road. No structures were demolished or added. The plaza, designed by architect Edwin Hill Clark in the 1920s, was locally owned by the Moss family from the 1970s until 2018, when it sold for $48 million following the death of patriarch Joseph Moss.
WS Development also owns Edens Plaza in Wilmette. The firm controls more than 100 mixed-use properties nationally.
An exact opening date for DÔEN has not been announced beyond "this fall."
