Wilmette cardholders can now borrow an instant camera, a Bluetooth speaker, a portable air compressor, and craft kits from the Wilmette Public Library's Library of Things collection.

The library added six items to the program in September, according to a post on its website. The additions include a Chef's Choice 1520 electric knife sharpener that handles Eastern-style, Western-style, and serrated blades; a Carsun portable air compressor that plugs into a car's 12V outlet; a Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 instant camera (batteries included, film not); and an Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 4 speaker with 14 hours of battery life and a 131-foot wireless range.

Two craft kits complete the batch: a crochet set with 20 hooks in various sizes and ergonomic silicone-grip handles, and a knitting needle kit with 12 pairs of interchangeable needles, five cords, connectors, stoppers, and a fabric carrying case.

The program lets residents try gear before buying or borrow items they need only occasionally. Past additions have included a pickleball set, an outdoor movie theater kit, and an OBD2 car diagnostic scanner.

All Library of Things items are available only to Wilmette library cardholders. The library is at 1242 Wilmette Ave. and is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
