The Chicago Botanic Garden's annual Fall Bulb Sale returns to Glencoe on Friday, Oct. 2, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 4.
The three-day sale takes place in Burnstein Hall at the Regenstein Center, where shoppers can browse tulips, daffodils, alliums, crocus, hyacinths, peonies and amaryllis shipped directly from Holland. According to the Garden's event page, the bulbs come from a leading Dutch supplier and arrive just days before the sale, timed for ideal fall planting conditions.
Garden members get first pick. On Friday, members-only shopping runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale opens to everyone else at 2 p.m. and closes at 4 p.m. that day. On Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4, the sale is open to all from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society presents the sale. Mums and ornamental kale grown by the Garden's own production team will also be available. Garden experts will be on hand to answer questions and offer planting tips.
Shoppers who placed orders during the online Bulk Bulb Sale, which ran Sept. 1–27, can pick up their purchases at the Regenstein Center during sale hours. Members received a 10 percent discount on those online bulk orders.
Beyond the bulbs, a Runnells Courtyard Marketplace will accompany the sale with seasonal décor, festive music and photo opportunities. Vendors include Lincoln Land Kettle Corn, Xanadu Apiary, Elsie Mae's Sweet Shop, Katherine Anne Confections, Irie Cup, Spoken Café, The Spice House and Plovara.
Proceeds from the sale support the general operating fund of the Chicago Botanic Garden, a nonprofit run as a public-private partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County. Admission is free for Garden members. Regular parking and admission fees apply for nonmembers. The Garden is at 1000 Lake Cook Road in Glencoe.
