Tickets for the New Trier–Evanston football game Friday, Oct. 16, at Northwestern's rebuilt Ryan Field sold out their first batch within a day of going on sale Saturday, Oct. 10.
A second batch was released after, according to Marty Carlino of The Record North Shore, who posted on X that demand was intense.
@mcarlino27: "Tickets are moving FAST as the first batch released yesterday sold out (a second batch was released)."
Carlino shared a Ticketmaster link for the game. In an Oct. 12 update, New Trier said the schools were working with Northwestern on the possibility of releasing additional general-public tickets. Fans should check the school’s game information page for updates.
The Oct. 16 matchup will be the first high school football game ever played at the $875 million stadium, which opened Oct. 2. The rivalry between New Trier and Evanston dates back to 1913.
Ryan Field seats 35,000. New Trier's Northfield campus field holds about 3,000. That nearly 12-fold jump in capacity helps explain the rush, as New Trier News reported in September.
New Trier head coach Brian Doll called the matchup "a once-in-a-lifetime experience" for his players, according to The Record North Shore's Oct. 10 game recap. When the game was first announced, Doll told New Trier News: "It's a dream for all these kids, but it's also a dream for the community and the coaches."
The Trevians enter at 7-1, their best record through eight games since 2018. Evanston is 5-3. A New Trier win would give the program eight regular-season victories for the first time since 2016 and all but lock in a first-round playoff bye.
Senior quarterback Jackie Ryder, speaking to The Record North Shore after the Oct. 9 win over Glenbrook South, said the team "can't wait for that game."
Fans heading to Ryan Field should know: the stadium is cashless, tickets must be shown through the New Ryan Field app, and re-entry is not allowed.
