New Trier High School will present its Class of 2026 college placement data at an open parent event on Oct. 20.

Superintendent Peter Tragos, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Chimille Tillery, and members of the Post High School Counseling (PHSC) department will lead what the district called an "interactive discussion" of the annual Class Profile.

The Profile tracks course-taking patterns, college application trends and college choices for New Trier's most recent graduates. It breaks down outcomes by academic level, showing how students across the spectrum fared in pursuing post-high school paths.

The Class of 2026 had 951 seniors, according to the district's school profile. That class produced 43 National Merit Semifinalists, up from 34 in the Class of 2025.

Sixth-semester GPA data already published for the Class of 2026 shows a weighted median of 4.21 and an unweighted median of 3.63. College destination data for the class has not yet been released and is expected to be the centerpiece of the Oct. 20 presentation.

Approximately 97% of the Class of 2025 enrolled in college, with 94% entering four-year programs and 3% entering two-year programs. That class posted a mean ACT composite of 27.9, compared with the Illinois average of 23.1 and the national average of 19.4. In spring 2025, 1,032 New Trier students took 2,667 Advanced Placement exams and averaged a score of 4.15 out of 5.

Last year's Class of 2025 Profile presentation, led by Tragos and Tillery in the same format, was recorded and posted to the New Trier Parent Association's Parent University page.

New Trier's PHSC department, chaired by Jill Cervantes, includes eight counselors who guide students through a four-year planning process. The department has several parent events ahead this school year.

Those include a Next Steps for Juniors Parent Program on Nov. 17 or 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Winnetka Campus, a Sophomore Parent Night on Jan. 21, 2027, and a Gap Year Fair on Jan. 23, 2027, from noon to 3 p.m. at Gaffney Auditorium.
