New Trier High School student artwork is on display at Northfield's Village Hall Art Gallery through October.
The exhibition features mixed media, drawing, painting and photography by selected New Trier art students, according to a Village of Northfield announcement posted Friday, Sept. 18. The village did not name the selecting teacher or curator, or say how many students are represented.
Admission is free.
The gallery sits inside Village Hall, where Northfield residents already go to pay water bills and attend board meetings. New Trier's campus is in Winnetka, but the school district is headquartered in Northfield, making the pairing a natural fit for the village's civic space.
One student whose work appears as the exhibition's cover image is Ilana Styles, a New Trier senior in the Class of 2026. The village's announcement credited Styles for the image but did not describe the medium or subject of her piece.
The Village Hall Art Gallery runs a rotating schedule of shows throughout the year. A previous November and December exhibition featured 34 watercolor works by 25 local artists exploring the theme "Home," according to the village's Facebook page. The current student show marks a shift from professional artists to high schoolers getting wall space in a civic building.
The show is open to anyone who walks in during regular Village Hall hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointment or registration is needed. Residents interested in seeing the work before it comes down should plan a weekday visit before the end of October.
