North Shore hockey families can meet two-time Olympic gold medalist Kendall Coyne Schofield in person Sunday, June 28, at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar in Northbrook.

The meet-and-greet runs from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the restaurant, located at 992 Willow Rd. Guests can take photos, get autographs, and hear from one of the most accomplished active players in U.S. women's hockey. The appearance is a partnership with Coca-Cola. Reservations are encouraged through OpenTable.

Coyne Schofield, 34, is a Palos Heights native who grew up playing for the Chicago Mission girls' program. She won gold at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics in February, scoring three goals in seven games as Team USA defeated Canada 2-1 in the final. She also won gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Games and is a seven-time world champion.

"I look at the 1998 team. That's when I boomed, from that moment," Coyne Schofield told NHL.com after the 2026 gold. "I've seen the impact just be so far greater on gold than on silver. That's what I'm so excited about is to see the kids who were inspired by these moments."

The appearance lands amid growing investment in North Shore youth hockey. The Winnetka Hockey Club proposed a $47.5 million expansion of the Winnetka Ice Arena to the Park Board on May 28. Club president Brent Kozel cited growing demand for ice time and a lack of adequate space for female players as driving factors. The North Shore Warhawks girls' program sent both its 14U and 16U squads to the 2026 USA Hockey Girls Tier II National Championships for the first time in program history.

North Shore Ice Arena, at 2111 Founders Drive in Northbrook, serves as home ice for the Winnetka Hockey Club, the New Trier Girls Hockey Club, and the Warhawks. In her NHL.com interview, Coyne Schofield credited the 2026 Olympic gold and the growth of the Professional Women's Hockey League with helping USA Hockey reach 100,000 registered female players nationally.

Beyond her Olympic career, Coyne Schofield is a player development coach for the Chicago Blackhawks and captain of the PWHL's two-time Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost. She became the first woman to compete in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition in January 2019 and founded the "Golden Coynes," an all-girls development program with the Blackhawks for players ages 6 to 12.
